Abstract
This study aims to determine secondary metabolite compounds contained in the ethanol extract of red betel leaves as well as variations in the dosage of ethanol extract of red betel leaf which has the potential to regenerate pancreatic β cell of male white rats induced by streptozotocin. This research is a laboratory experimental research using 30 male white rats were divided into VI treatment groups, namely group I (normal control), group II (negative control), group III (positive control), groups IV, V and VI namely the extract group with a dose of 150 mg/kg BW, 250 mg/kg BW and 350 mg/kg BW. The results showed that the ethanol extract of red betel leaf contains secondary metabolite compounds, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The ethanol extract of red betel leaves provides quite good potential in regenerating pancreatic β cells of male white rats induced by streptozotocin at a dose of 350 mg/kg BW with an average value of damage of 0,6.
