Abstract
This study aimed to examine secondary metabolites and to examine the effect of ethanol extract of red jatropha leaves (Jatropha gossypifolia L) on decreasing blood glucose levels with graded doses of 300mg/kgBW, 400 mg/kgBB and 500 mg/kgBW. This study used an experimental method with a randomized block design (RAK) and was divided into six groups, namely normal control, negative control, positive control and graded dose group. The test data were analyzed using One Way Anova and further tested with the Lest Significant Difference (LSD). The results of this study indicate that the ethanol extract of red jatropha leaves (Jatropha gossypifolia L) contains secondary metabolites of alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The ethanol extract of red jatropha leaves (Jatropha gossypifolia L) had the effect of reducing blood glucose levels only on day 21 and surgery was performed because the condition of the test animals showed toxic characteristics with foaming in the mouth, squinting eyes, weakness, non-aggression and immobility caused by Toxic effect of ricin poison which is a compound of toxalbumin, so this research did not last until 28 days.
